Curse of Overheating

The Curse of Overheating is a targeted curse that will afflict a single player. A taglock must first be collected using a Taglock Kit, and that must then be used as a foci in the rite to target the being to whom the taglock belongs. A Voodoo Protection Poppet bound to a player will stop the curse from taking effect.

When the curse takes hold, it will cause a player in a hot biome to occasionally catch fire for a short period, until such a time as the curse is removed with a Rite of Remove Curse. To be clear, this curse will continue to apply even after death.

The strength of the curse is largely down to the skill of the witch or warlock casting the curse. Also, each time a curse fails to be removed, it will get progressively stronger. The stronger the curse the higher the chance of the player catching fire, and the longer the fire will burn.

The Curse of Overheating can only be performed in a thunderstorm!

This curse will start one level stronger if cast by a witch (or warlock) with a Cat familiar. It will also require an undamaged Voodoo Protection poppet to stop it in this case.

If a coven performs the curse, it will start one level stronger for every two additional witches in the coven.

The circles, foci items and power needs of this rite, like all other rites, can be found in the book, Witchery: Circle Magic.
